The youth of Fairview are active, energetic witnesses for Christ.

The UMYF (United Methodist Youth Fellowship) is made up of youth in grades 6 - 12.  Under the leadership of Rev. Hanson and several volunteers throughout the congregation weekly Sunday meetings are conducted either at the church or in the home of a church member.  A meal is shared along with a bible based devotion.  This is a time for learning, sharing and prayer.

Special activities such as guest speakers, goodie bags for shut-ins, making cards for members that are ill, singing hymns around a camp fire, mission projects and trips for service and fellowship, are all a part of our gatherings.

The Youth share their talents with the church as well.  Singing, playing musical instruments, reading scripture, working the sound board, and ushering are a part of our in house ministry.  The youth plan and conduct an annual church service as part of a United Methodist Youth Sunday.

Members of the youth are also invited to participate in committees such as Nurture and Membership, Outreach, and Administrative Council.  As the youth grow in their faith, they are also learning about the church.

Our youth experience spiritual mentoring through our Confirmation classes typically held in the 6-7 grades. The confirmation process is a time of Christian learning and discernment. Confirmation is a time where the youth and the church mutually confirm their relationship together in the body of Jesus Christ.

Our young people have the opportunity to participate in major youth revivals such as "Acquire the Fire" and the North Carolina UMC’s "Pilgrimage," a Conference event of more than 6,000 youth. They also  support causes by raising funds and volunteering. 2005 took the Fairview UMYF to Asheville North Carolina where they spent a week fixing up and painting the home of a local resident. The youth caroled to our shut-ins, assisted with bible school and served meals at the Allied Churches' Emergency Shelter.

Our church reaches out to all the youth in our community as well. All young people are welcome to participate in any youth program or project at Fairview whether they are a member or not. The church also sponsors college scholarships for religious education. All college bound youth are eligible to apply. Contact Jared Hanson for more information or to apply at 584-5411 or e-mail Jared.

The goal for the Youth Ministry is to love kids where they are, and offer opportunities to grow in Christ within the church and within their communities.

The youth learn to feel secure in their faith knowing that whatever the circumstances, Jesus will be there.

We work together as a community for the community.
